Chuck’s Fish
Location: 551 Dauphin St Mobile, AL 36602
Item Ordered: Salmon Roll and a roll off the secret menu 🙂
Taste: Before y’all start fussing at me about the secret menu. You have to sit upstairs at the sushi bar and ask the sushi chef for the secret menu so can order off of it. Other than that no one will tell you about the secret menu. (you’re welcome) First off, the venue is super cute located in downtown Mobile with an awesome happy hour. The food is bomb! I’ve had sushi at a couple places in Mobile and this is by far my favorite place. If you need a sushi fix in Port City then come try Chuck’s. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Kravers Seafood
Location: 2368 Leroy Stevens Rd, Mobile, AL 36695
Item ordered: Crab Cakes and Blackened Shrimp w| green beans and coleslaw
Taste: My aunt talks about Kravers Seafood all of the time so I decided to give it a try. All in all, the food was decent but the only item that I really liked was the crab cakes. The crab cakes were flavorful and delicious! Other than that, the food tasted like standard seafood you could get anywhere. The green beans were pretty tasty but that was about it. I am pretty sure that their fried food items are probably better than their grilled items but since my mom and I only ordered the grilled items, that is the only thing I can base this review off of.

Ruby Slipper Cafe
Location: 100 N Royal St, Mobile, AL 36602
Item ordered: Chicken St. Charles: Fried chicken breast served over a buttermilk biscuit, topped with two poached eggs, finished with a pork tasso cream sauce
Taste: My oh my! Ruby Slipper! This place was very tasty! This restaurant originated in New Orleans, LA but created a second location in Mobile. I am so happy that I got the chance to try it! I ordered the Fried Chicken Benedict. I loved that they used a biscuit instead of the standard English muffin for their Benedicts. The fried chicken was juicy and tasty which was a plus! The sauce and poached egg brought even more flavor to the dish. All in all, I enjoyed my meal. Not pictured was my huge mimosa! Since I didn’t finish they offered me a to go cup which was a win! (In case you didn’t know, you can walk around and drink in downtown Mobile as long as you have a lid on your cup.) I am putting you up on game, don’t say I never told you anything! Ruby Slipper is a must try!

MoMo’s Wings and Things – Minority Owned
Location: 2662 Spring Hill Ave, Mobile, AL 36607
Item Ordered: Shrimp Snack w| side of Nawlings 5pc wings
Taste: Momo’s which was named after the owner’s niece, is a fairly new seafood and wing establishment in Mobile. The food was pretty bomb! The shrimp was lightly fried, which is how I like it! The french fries were crinkled and soft, which is how I like it. The Nawlings sauce on the wings was sweet with a little heat which is a great combo for good wings. I loved coming to Momo’s and I can not wait to come back to visit!

Item Ordered: Shrimp Basket w| onion rings & hush puppies
Taste: If you want to go to a place where you can buy raw seafood and purchase seafood plates then this is the place for you! The Seafood House located off of the corner of Azalea is great place to get your fast causal dining seafood fix. They offer fish, shrimp, oysters, you name it! They have it all. The fried shrimp and onion rings were food snob approved! I would recommend this place if you are in a hurry and want some tasty seafood.

Big Time Diner
Location: 4936 Cottage Hill Rd, Mobile, AL 36609
Item Ordered: Shrimp Philly w| onion rings
Taste: The very first time I ate at the Big Time Diner, I LOVED it! My family ordered everything from the burgers, to the fries, and milkshakes. We couldn’t wait to go back. Few years later we came back expecting the same good food and service and unfortunately the food was not as tasty as we remembered. No body finished their food. My Shrimp Philly was plain and the only tasty food item on my plate was the onion rings. Even the onion rings could have been cooked a little longer. I rated this place a 3 only because I want to believe that maybe the diner had an off day. I don’t want to believe that they don’t serve good food anymore. If I were you I would get a diner food classic meal, like hamburger and fries.

Montego’s Cafe and Bar
Location: 6601 Airport Blvd, Mobile, AL 36608
Item Ordered: Fish tacos w| side salad
Taste: One thing you should know about me is that I love fish tacos! Fish and shrimp tacos are my favorite tacos. These fish tacos were pretty tasty. The fish had plenty of flavor is good and important in a successful fish taco. The coleslaw on top was okay, but altogether this dish was pretty good. The best part was the all you can drink mimosa special they had going on at the time. Montego is known for their drinks so it’s best to check into their drink specials if you want to catch a buzz.

Spot of Tea
Location: 310 Dauphin St, Mobile, AL 36602
Item Ordered: Eggs Cathedral : Grilled English muffin topped with crab cake, scrambled eggs and our homemade seafood sauce, made with blackened Mexican grouper and crawfish. Served with hash brown potatoes.
Taste: Spot of Tea is located in the heart of Downtown Mobile. The food is spot on! I loved the eggs cathedral it tasted fresh and original. I love when a food establishment can take a normal breakfast dish and make it original. This dish was full of flavor from the crawfish sauce to the eggs. I enjoyed every bite of my meal. I even finished the whole plate! When you’re in Mobile, you definitely have to try this dainty tea shop with amazing food.

Boiling Pot
Location: 3704 Airport Blvd, Mobile, AL 36608
Item Ordered: Grilled Combo (Oysters, Shrimp, and Catfish) and Stuffed Salmon w| crawfish (not pictured: broccoli cheese casserole and boiled potatoes)
Taste: Boiling Pot has been one of my favorite seafood restaurants in Mobile for years now. Just recently from my lifestyle change, I slowed down ordering fried foods and I started ordering grilled or blackened. The blackened combo plate was okay. The flavor was tasty but I was still hungry after eating what was on my plate. My mother, on the other hand, got the stuffed salmon. Babyyyy. That salmon was so good. I almost took over my mother’s plate! The salmon was flavorful and the stuffed crawfish was super tasty. I recommend getting the fried seafood or if you want a lighter option, I would opted for the salmon instead of the blackened seafood. Whatever you choose, Boiling Pot is still a must for your stop in the Port City.
