Treylor Park
Location: 115 E Bay St, Savannah, GA 31401
Item Ordered: (From top to bottom) Bologna Sandwich, Shrimp and Grits Taco, and Chicken Pot Pie
Taste: The item that I ordered was the Chicken Pot Pie because I asked the waiter what was the most popular item and that was what he said to get. Umm…when we all received our food we were a little skeptical at first because it looks different than your average taco, chicken pot pie and bologna sandwich. But Hey! You can’t always judge a book by its cover. When I sampled everyone’s food, I have to say it was edible but I wasn’t overwhelmed. For this restaurant to have such high ratings I was waiting to be blown away and I wasn’t. The Chicken Pot Pie was a glorified hot pocket in my opinion. The shrimp and grits taco was cool but it is not something that I would order again. My dad still makes the best bologna sandwich in the world. Case closed. Its safe to say that we went to Treylor Park but I don’t believe any of us would return. Sorry, not sorry.

LuLu’s Chocolate Bar
Location: 42 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Savannah, GA 31401
Item Ordered: Caramel Martini
Taste: Dessert martini? Don’t mind if I do. This drink was the perfect combination of dessert and alcoholic beverage, sweet yet strong. LuLus Chocolate Bar is a cute coffee shop size building with a full bar for those people that don’t want sweet drink, desserts for those that have a sweet tooth, and of course your dessert alcoholic beverages. The staff was super nice and knowledgeable about the products. The drinks tasted amazing! We actually went twice during our Savannah trip. The only place that we visited multiple times! I would definitely come back again when I go back to Savannah.

Narobia’s Grits & Gravy – Minority Owned
Location: 2019 Habersham St, Savannah, GA 31401
Item Ordered: Salmon Omelette
Taste: First off, I would like to say that “I love us for real.” *in my Monique voice* I am going to be honest, we were at the restaurant for almost 3 hours and it took little over 45 minutes for us to get our food. If we didn’t get the attention of the manager to put our order in, it would have probably taken longer than that. When we walked up, they had a line out the door so we knew two things: A) it was going to taste BOMB AF B) we will probably have to wait for a while. Despite the line out the door, they tried to sit my girls and I as soon as they could. That was an episode all in itself. They kept saying our table was ready and it wasn’t, that happened about 3 times. After the 3rd time we finally got a table. It took FOREVER to get our food, we would have left but we wanted to support a black owned business so we stayed. Boy am I glad we stayed. The food was AMAZING!!! The salmon omelette did not disappoint. The hashbrowns had flavor. The whole dish had flavor! I would definitely come back to eat. I just have to keep in mind that I will probably have to wait for a while. They definitely need a bigger building and more staff. That would take their business to the next level.

Bay Leaf – Minority Owned
Location: 412 W. Bay Street Savannah, GA 31401
Item Ordered: (from top to bottom) fried shrimp basket and shrimp polish sausage with fries (my meal)
Taste: Bruhhhhhh! Let me start by saying that I never had a shrimp polish before. I actually never seen it before either. So when I saw it as an option, I HAD to order it. I thought it tasted great! I liked the fact that the shrimp was grilled and not fried. If it was fried I think it would have been too greasy with the sausage. The sausage/shrimp came with a sauce that I believe was a romalade sauce with chopped onions and peppers. That sauce was what made it taste really good. I enjoyed this combo and I recommend that when you’re in the Savannah to give it a try.

Huey’s on the River
Location: 115 E River St, Savannah, GA 31401
Item Ordered: (From top to bottom) beignets, spinach and artichoke dip, and seafood omelette
Taste: Huey’s on the River is a New Orleans themed restaurant so we were excited to try plenty of the items on the menu. The food! The beignets were straight. Honestly I’ve never had a beignet as good as Cafe Du Monde. However, the praline sauce that came with the beignets did make it different. I love it when restaurants put a twist on classic food items, so they do get points for that. The spinach dip was honestly some of the best spinach dip I have ever had in my LIFE! It was so fresh, tasty and flavorful. I could have ate that all for myself. The seafood omelette was very tasty. The seafood tasted fresh, which is important to every seafood lover. The only thing is I wish it came with some sort of sauce on top or on the side. It was a little on the dry side which is common for seafood if it doesn’t come with a sauce. I believe a remoulade sauce would make this omelette perfect.

Garibaldi Cafe
Location: 315 W Congress St, Savannah, GA 31401
Item Ordered: Seafood Pasta
Taste: Doesn’t that scallop look perfect?! OMG! My mouth is watering just looking at the picture. I wish the entree made my mouth water like that. Let me say, the restaurant was gorgeous, stunning, all of the above. The servers were amazing. The other guests were so sweet and kind. The food…was a little disappointing. Once again, another restaurant with a high rating with a disappointing delivery. How do you mess up seafood pasta? By not having enough sauce and flavor on the seafood. That is exactly what happened. The dish was edible but it needed more of everything: sauce, flavor, meat. Everything. The restaurant ambiance helped the overall rate but the food itself was not all that.
